Simple skin defects or even in combination with soft tissue or bone can occur following severe injuries, surgery, congenital anomalies and cancer. They are essentially open complex wounds that cannot be healed .Reconstructive surgery is often performed , usually in multiple long operations where simple or composite portions of healthy tissues (skin muscles, tendons, vessels, nerves, bones) are transported from adjacent or distant areas to the affected area, aiming to restore function. Such defects can occur individually or in multiple places in any part of the human body such as the head, neck, trunk, breast, upper and lower limbs.
