For about a month the patient wears a special bra. He/she can return to his/her daily activities the next day. However, weight lifting and stretching should be avoided for the next 15 days.
As part of the aging process or sometimes due to weight fluctuations the skin of the arms relaxes resulting in an obvious ptosis. By lifting the arm, the excess skin is removed and the arm becomes harmonious. Depending on the circumstance and the degree of ptosis of the tissues,, the incision may either be confined to the armpit area ( minimal scar technique ) or extended from the armpit to slightly above the inner elbow. It is usually combined with liposuction .
Almost a week later, the patient can return to his/her work.
The operation lasts about 2 hours. It is done under general anaesthesia or sedation and a few hours later the patient can be discharged.
